Bored at Work!!

So, I totally had a Funniest Home Video moment at work today. I was sitting in my chair and instead of getting up to grab these files I needed, I decided to try and stretch my body out while still sitting in my chair. The next thing I know I completely flip the chair over my head and go flying in the air. Oh it gets better….because today is the day I decide to wear a dress … so everyone who witnessed my travesty got an extra special show. What was so weird was how slow everything went, I felt like I was in one of those scenes from the Matrix.

Then to make matters worse, like 10 people in my office came up too me and asked me if I was okay (but no one gossips in this office). Oh what a day….see what happens when you drink on a Monday!!

After it was all said and done I can admit it was actually pretty funny, and lucky for me I am the type of person who can laugh at herself.

I have an idea....

So, the plan this weekend is to go and see Transformers.

The movie should be just as expected, tons of action things being blown up and a half naked Meagan Fox running around! I have a question for all those filmmakers out there, with all the remakes your doing how come you have not jumped into the 80’s girls market.

Here are a few ideas!

Rainbow Brite

Jem and The Holograms

Strawberry ShortCake

I think with some good writers and a few digital enhancements a killer movie could be made staring these chicks. I mean have you seen what Ms. Brite is wearing...AWESOME!!! (If for some reason a movie is made from one of these ideas, please remember my cut!!!

Strawberry Cupcakes...

Sco, today was hot as hell!! I am making cupcakes for a wedding in October and decided to do a test run today. I had to run to the grocery store to grab a few things and my temp in my car actually said 110….yes 110. It did cool down slightly, to a freezing 104.

So, I decided to make Strawberry cupcakes from one of my favorite cookbooks, Sweets: Soul Food Desserts and Memories. I bought this cookbook on a whim and it was the best purchase ever. The book has awesome recipes and even better family stories. It’s worth adding to your collection.

I also decided to be adventurous and try a cooked frosting. I got the recipe from the Whimsical Bakeshop cookbook, another awesome book, and was actually really simply. The only thing I will do different is purchasing a food thermometer.

While the cupcakes were baking, I caught a few minutes of the new show on WE "Raising Sextuplets", it’s amazing to me that this lady had 6 babies and is now training for a marathon. I am officially a fat lazy bum!!! Its time to get off my fat booty and actually do something with myself. I mean if this lady can work full-time and raise 6 small children and still train for a marathon, there is no excuse for my behavior.

H-O-T

I can not believe how freaking H-O-T it was today.....I swear I saw Satan chasing down the ice cream truck by my apartment!

Delish....

So, I consider myself to be a Cupcake Connoisseur and when I heard a new cupcake bakery opened up by my office I made a made dash over there. The place is called Delish and the set up was super cute.

I was rather disappointed with the owner though, she wasn’t really friendly and had a real stank attitude. See, I am one of those people who ask questions, you know gets a feel for the business and she was acting like I was annoying her or taking up her time…..even though I was the only one in the shop. I feel like if your going to have a business, especially a bakery, its nice to mingle and make nice with the customers.

I had no choice but to give them a demerit for poor customer service, so I decided to let the cupcakes do the talking. The cupcakes were okay, not the best in Austin, but worth taking a cupcake break in the middle of the day.

Strawberry

I will openly admit since I bake all the time, I am really snobby when it comes to other people’s baked goods. I remember once someone in our office brought in cupcakes, I decided to be adventurous and try one….YUCK!! It was so gross, and I think it was from a box which made matters worse. I feel like if your going to bring in something to represent yourself, bring you’re A game to the table.

Weekend Recap...

This weekend was actually pretty dull; I had a ton of homework that I waited until the last minute to complete….shocking I know!! I also realized after my 4th visit in 2 days to Borders Bookstore I am a Book Whore.

I heart books; I love the way they smell, and feel in my hand. I can get lost in a bookstore for hours just looking at all the covers and discovering what’s hidden inside of them. It drives the BF crazy, because I am always like “Baby” (in my sexy I am trying to trick you voice) can I just run into the bookstore…then 30 minutes later he comes in with that are you ready yet face.

Well to my surprise I got a coupon for 40% of any item in the store. To me this was Gold, because books are hella expensive, and the library is great but I just love to keep my books. So, inside the bookstore with coupon in hand, I decided to purchase one of the Sookie Stackhouse books aka… True Blood. I have not started reading it yet, but I am excited due to all the talk surrounding the books.

I also caught up with some more of my quality TV shows. On Bridezilla they showed the worse bride, I think I’ve ever seen. This woman was acting like a complete idiot and freaking out in such an immature manner….but it made GREAT TV!!!

Fairytales...

Today was the most boring day at work. It was an optional holiday so no one was there, and I just sat around purusing the Internet all day. I came across a neat series of photos today called “Fallen Princesses”. The pictures were taken by photographer Diana Goldstein, who stated

"As a young girl, growing up abroad, I was not exposed to Fairy tales. These new discoveries lead to my fascination with the origins of Fairy tales. I explored the original brothers Grimm's stories and found that they have very dark and sometimes gruesome aspects, many of which were changed by Disney. I began to imagine Disney's perfect Princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues."

Beauty and the Beast (Belle)
Sleeping Beauty
Little Red Robin Hood

Rapunzel

Snow White
(I would think on a Prince's salary they could afford
a bigger T.V)
Cinderella
(I bet she started drinking from all the abuse she suffered from her
wicked step-mother and step-sisters...or could have been the singing
and dancing animals that make her looney)
Hope Everyone has a good Weekend!

Remakes...Good or Bad!

Since, I've been in music mode this week, my sister sent me a link to this artist today, and I can't stand how cute this remake of this song is... It makes me smile!!

**The artist is Jenny Owen Youngs **

Sometimes remakes can be a good thing and sometimes they can turn into this:

I will make note that the Korean Boy "singing" Mariah Carey is giving it his all and he gets a High Five for at least trying.

Soundtrack of my Life....

Yesterday while I was driving home and jamming out to my MP3 player this song I had not heard in years come on and got me thinking. What would the soundtrack of my life be (here is the short version)?

"She Works Hard for the Money" by Donna Summer – the first album my dad ever bought me, I was 6ish and played this one song to death on my little portable record player. I felt so grown up, because my dad had a huge record collection and he would mark all his records with his nickname on them, so when he gave me my record, he marked my nickname on it, I was so cool!
"I Think Were Alone Now" by Tiffany – another gift from my daddy-o (Wow I am pretty lucky to have such an awesome dad). I remember being outside playing and him coming home and handing me this cassette tape, as a “Just Because” gift. I still own that tape, and get the urge to put a side ponytail in my hair and headband and jam out.

Fade into You by Mazzy Star – reminds me of the summer of my soon to be senior year, lounging in the grass with my best friends talking about good times and our future. (I miss those days of being free and not having to be an “Adult”)

I Gotta Be by Jagged Edge – the first guy I truly feel in love with introduced to me a lot of music I would have never been open to and this was one the artist I feel in love with. This song was our song.

Big Girls Don’t Cry by Fergie – going through all the turmoil and heartbreak with my divorce, when I heard this song it really spoke to my heart and said all the things I was feeling during that time.

So What by Pink – after my divorce was finalized this song became my Anthem!

The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson – I’ve been lucky to find True Love a 2nd time in my life and the lyrics to this song explains exactey what kind of relationship I’ve been blessed with.

Once I got started I felt like I could have gone on for days. Its so crazy how music can envoke some many emotions and memories, but I couldn't imagine my life without music and all those songs that make me want to scream or shake it!
So, whats the soundtrack to your life?

The crepe place is set up in the cutest little Air Stream trailer

I started out with the Yummiest Ham and Gruyère Crepe

And I ended with their Summer Berry and Vanilla Pastry Cream Crepe

Then on the way home I got bored in the car and took a million pictures ( I will only bore you with one...This is me trying to be Gangster!!!)

We also got to see an advanced screening of Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynold's new movie "The Proposal", OMG...I think I laughed harder in this movie than in Hangover. This movie was so cute and funny.

Betty White freaking stole the show, I highly reccomend you go and see this movie.!!!
