Making My Mark...

For the last couple of days I’ve been searching for someone who sells Avon so I can order this blush I read about. For some reason I had this impression that Avon Reps were like crack dealers and could be found on any corner, but as of today I have yet to find someone who deals this stuff…so guess what I did. I signed up to be an Avon lady, well actually a Mark dealer. From my understanding Mark is the hip cooler little sister of Avon.

I am not going to be one of those pushy dealers, I mainly signed up to get the discount, but if I make a little bit of money out of it…why not.

So, if you get a chance to check out the site(and feel free to order something!!)

Also, I am watching “Pushing Daisies” (via Netflix) and I am loving it!!

Especially the part about the "Cup Pies"

Kindness...

Lately I am getting the feeling Kindness is something people don’t express on a daily basis. I am always surprised at the amount of people who will slam a door in your face or not let you get in their lane. I have to wonder what happened to the act of being kind, why are people so quick to be rude and ugly.

The other day I had to get my oil changed and went next door to Starbucks to get some coffee while I waited. While I was there I was chatting up with the girl making my coffee having a rather fun and friendly convo. When I went to pick up my coffee, she said I made you an extra coffee so you can try how I like my version of the drink. It totally through me for a loop, why was this person being so nice and kind to me?

Walking back to the service station, my mind was still boggled as to why this girl felt the need to make my day better. When I got into the lobby I was sitting there drinking my coffee (BTW…I normally get a white chocolate mocha w/a pump of vanilla and she gave me a caramel mocha which was the BEST thing ever) and noticed this girl sitting there in the lobby with me. I explained to her what had just happened and that I was not going to be able to drink the other coffee and didn’t want to throw it away, so I offered it to her, she said “that’s the kindest thing that has happened to me all day”. We sat there and talked until our cars were done, realizing we had a ton of stuff of common and then we parted ways. I was hoping that my random act would motivate her to do something kind, just like the act from the Starbucks girl motivated me.

It’s the small things that affect people the most. I was re-oranizing my closet and had a ton of clothes I was no longer going to use and knew a lady at my office had several young daughters, so I asked her if she would like the clothes. For me I was thinking well I would rather give them to someone than dragging them to Goodwill or trashing them. But my heart totally melted when I received an email from her a few days later that said:

Hey Maaaaaaaaaaa'm:

Erica, I just wanted you to know how happy you have made me for you to think of me and be willing to give Macey and I your clothes that you no longer need. I want you to always know that from the time I started employment here that I have always thought you were just the sweetest. Now I know my gut told me right about you. I am so grateful Erica to have you as a friend. Macey has told me to let you know she is very appreciative and she can't wait to see the clothes. She will have to fight me I know over a few of them. I know you are probably thinking, (OMG, they are used clothes, it's not like the crazy woman was given a free gift cert. to Neiman Marcus or something), but you don't understand, I only shop at pretty much resale shops and I get my clothes used and at knock out prices. Most of the clothes I purchase for myself are yes, from resale shops but these shops only accept very limited designer name brand clothing and they are barely worn. It is absolutely amazing what I spend on some of the outfits I buy. You would die.

Anyway, and also thank you for not only giving us the clothes but coming to bring them all the way over to my house Sat.

Thank you so much!!

So, I CHALLENGE you....TO BE KIND.

Weekend Recap...

That was the shortest and longest weekend all at the same time. I was working up until the last minute making sure I had everything to make the DollFace booth look awesome. To no surprise my dresses didn’t show up (and as today won’t be here until Tuesday…BOO) but I got creative and threw together something (that I actually ended up really liking).

The funny thing was I totally had that horrible prom scene occur. This girl walks in the theater and has this huge coat on, but I notice she is kind of giving me the side eye (I am like um…. I don’t know you so what’s the deal) then I walk into the lobby and realize what the side eye was all about, she was taking pictures with some people and her coat was off and guess what I see…the same damn dress I am wearing. I walked by her we looked at each other (thinking the same thing…oh no this Bitch didn’t) and I guess she got the clue that I looked better in the dress, because I never saw her again…LOL!!!

We sold a ton of stuff, meet some awesome people; I had some weird drunk lady actually grab my boob (yes, you did read that right) and some people shop lifted from me. So aside from my sexual assault and theft, the night was Awesome. I met some new vendors, got to see half naked girls dancing and pulled off another event!!

(You can see more pictures here)

We didn’t get home from Dallas until 3am, but it was worth it. We actually got invited to do some other events, but that’s going to be something I have to think about!

Surprisingly we didn’t do the movies, we were so drained I just wanted to lay in bed and watch movies. I caught up with one of my Netflix receivables “The United States of Tara”. The show is actually really funny, it was created by Diablo Cody who wrote "Juno" and "Jennifer’s Body"….and it has the sexiest man ever in it John Corbett ( aka..Aiden from Sex in the City) I think tonight we might go and see Dear John, but right now sleep is totally calling my name.

I hope everyone got to enjoy the super bowl!!

TGIF...

I think if I have to add one more thing to my to do list for this week, my head is going to spin around and explode.

I was up late last night prepping the stuff for Saturday and tonight along with finishing up the baking stuff I have a paper and test due on Saturday (Yay to me). I am also getting nervous that my dress won’t be here on time and I will be scrambling at the last minute for something to wear. (side note – Pinupgirl Clothing is doing 20% off their entire website right now, use this code – ccblog210) but that’s normally how I roll!!

On my Valentines kick again, during some cleaning a few days ago I came across one of my favorite movies I've not watched in forever. The movie is “Love Song” with the singer Monica and the major HOTTIE Christian Kane.

It’s a great story with the basis of urban black girl falling for country white guy with great music in the mix. I recall seeing the movie years ago on MTV and went on a mad hunt to locate my own copy of the movie. I’ve only been able to find it on VHS (that’s why its been forever since I’ve watched it) but its such a good movie.

Here a little clip for your enjoyment:

Well I hope to have lots of fun pictures to post after the weekend!!

Motivation...

Dear "Motivation" –

I know your kind of mad at me, and I've noticed you have not been around lately, but I want you to know I really need you in my life. I know I really messed up when you caught me with "Sleep" and "Boredom", but I promise it’s all over now. I am really ready to make this work and want you to be a part of my life again. I even changed my status back to “In a Relationship on Facebook” .

I promise things will be different this time, so please give me a second chance. I really hope you will think about calling me so we can fix this thing.

Love Always
Your "Bug-a-Boo"

Kindness...

I can't lie I love Valentines Day. I love having that love feeling in the air, with tons of pink and red being splashed around. Even when I was not in a relationship my opinion didn't change, because showing kindess and love can be extended to anyone. I think sometimes we get wrapped up in that whole high school feeling...you remember where everyone was seeing who had the biggest cheesiest stuffed animal or how many carnations did you get.

This year if your feeling all bummed or without a Valentine, think about that person you might have seen on the street corner looking for a little help. Be their Valentine and show them some kindness in the form of a cup of coffee or a burger, I bet your heart will be filled with tons of L-O-V-E after that!

I just really want to put a more "Positive" and "Hopeful"spin on one of my favorite Holidays.

Here is a little mixtape that always makes me think of those I love (WARNING - These are a little bit Mushy)

1. Adele – Crazy for you
“Found myself today singing out loud your name.
You said I'm crazy, if I am I'm crazy for you.
Sometimes sitting in the dark wishing you were here turns me crazy,
But its you who makes me lose my head, yeah.”

2. Keyshia Cole – This is Us
“I'm like a sunday morning, you're like friday night
And when we kiss, the perfect weekend -no rain in sight
When i'm feeling incomplete, you're my missing piece
And when you need your breathe taken away i'll be your thief”

3. Matchbook Romance – Tiger Lily
“You turned to me and said,
"i'll be going through withdrawal of you
for this one night we have spent."

4. Tim McGraw – My Best Friend
"You stand by me
And you believe in me
Like nobody ever has
When my world goes crazy
You're right there to save me"

5. J. Holiday – Suffocate
“Cause I can't breathe when you talk to me
I can't breathe when you're touching me
I suffocate when you're away from me
So much love you take from me”

(yes, I know I have the most random taste in music...but when it speaks to me, I can't help it!)

What would be on your mix-tape?

Weekend Recap.....

I have one more class until graduation and I’ve become the laziest student ever. I spent Friday night working feverishly on my assignment that was due on Saturday. Now, it would have made sense to do a little bit during the week, but what is the fun in that…I like living on the edge being wild and dangerous…(yes, that is sad that is my danger moment...LOL)

But I did stop to make some delicious homemade Pizza. Since were watching what we eat I figured it would be safer for me to make the pizza, so I had a good idea of what was going in it. I used Turkey Italian Sausage and Turkey Pepperoni and it was better than delivery!!

Saturday was all mine, went shopping (Thank you TAX REFUND) and the BF and I saw “When in Rome”. It was cute and just what I needed on a low key Saturday night. Now I am preparing for this weekend and the “Event”. On Saturday when we were at the mall I found this dress at Fover21 that I thought would be perfect for the Event. Well it was one of those purchases that made sense in the store and then I got it home and was thinking “WHAT THE HELL"

I tried to put some accessories together with the dress and it looked better, but I went ahead and ordered dress number 1 (The leopard one) from the Pin Up website.

17 days until birthday time and I am still on the fence about our trip to Vegas. The BF is just waiting for the green light to make all the reservations, but I am still trying to get my anxiety straight. About a week ago I went to the Doctor and was given a prescrption to Xanex. Its a pretty low dose, but even when I take more than one pill I am still feeling really anxious. When we went to the mall It took me 20 mins to get the nerve to just enter the elevator while the BF held the door open. The other thing that stressed me out was the amount of people going in and out of the elevator. I wanted to try it alone (with the BF) but all these people with baby strollers kept popping out of no where....it soon became to much for me and I punked out. My concern is if I can get into a stupid elevator how can I do a plane ride. I called the doctor this afternoon to see about getting something else, so hopefully we can get this fixed.

Well I am not feeling so bueno, so the BF and I are going to hang out and watch some cheesy 80's movies...I love those nights!!
