Yummies!

So, I found it was cheaper to order my Martha book than run out and buy it, so rather than sit and twiddle my fingers until it arrives I decided to make some Smore’s bar. These things were definitely worth doing a quick run to Wal-Mart. They were super easy and tasted ever so yummy!! If anyone is interested in the recipe….TOUGH LUCK!!! Just kidding just send me a message or leave a comment and I will pass it your way.

So, if you’ve been reading my ramblings you know I love Pin-up's and did a post awhile back on black pin-ups. Well during my research I came across an amazing artist that I just had to share with everyone. Her name is Zahira Kelly and she has done a modern spin on Pin-ups that I fell in love with!! Mrs. Kelly said she was looking for Black Pin-up Art when she was going to get a tattoo and noticed the lack of color, so she created her own dolls aka Kelly's Dolls. She also does custom work, which is outstanding. I am thinking I need a custom doll of myself done.

This is my Favorite!!

Weekend Update....

Okay, I know I am few days behind, but better late than never! The event in Dallas was so much fun. The BF and I were dressed to impress, and I tried to be a big girl and were heels the whole night, that was a painful lesson!!

There were a lot of people in attendance and tons of activities were going on throughout the day. There were also some really cool vendors that had booths set up, so of course I was compelled to shop. I bought the coolest Hot Pink feather headband from Tara to the T, and the girls selling were dressed up the cutest vintage stewardess outfits.

Another company that caught my eye was Jupiter Moon 3, which specializes, in custom corsets, which made me realize…I need one. I love that look of small waists and big boobs!!!

Also, to my surprise they did a huge Burlesque show toward the end of the night. There were a variety of performers in all shapes and sizes. Also, to my excitement there was a black burlesque performer name Honey Coco Bordeauxx, who did a really good show!! Something rather funny we made note of was the fact that 95% of the dancers who attended the event were from Austin, how random!!

The rest of the weekend was nice and relaxing (except for those crazy Dallas drivers). I did get to go to Sprinkles Cupcakes and I have to say **YUCK**. I am sorry people; those cupcakes were not all that great. There are a handful of places here in Austin that are way better. I have to give a show-out to my favorite hometown place “ Polkadots Cupcake Factory”. Omg….if you ever come to Austin you have to visit this place, it’s the best ever. Plus the owners are beyond sweet!

When I stop being lazy I plan to post some pictures I took at the event! I posted some of the links to a few of the vendors and my favorite dancer!

PS....Something fun my sister found a generator to make your own Burlesque name:

My Kind of Night!!

So, after taking a 2 day "mental health" break from work, (I just told everyone I had a 48 hour case of swine flu)I came across something to brighten my spirits. There having a huge Pin-up Event in Dallas in two weeks. Guess who is going???

Also, just watched this show on MTV $5.00 Cover, actually L-O-V-E-S it. Its by the same guy who did Hustle and Flow, which was another favorite of mine. (Because you know its hard out here for a PIMP) I think it would be cool if they did something like this in Austin. I checked out a few of the artist from the show, and they are really good.

Where are all the Black Pin-up's

I went on an extensive search today and had no luck at finding African-American Pin-up pictures. I truly belive there are no good quality AA Pin-up art, which is a complete shame. I couldn't even find a Latina or Asian picture. It boggles my mind, that no one has jumped on this idea. I mean I love Pin-ups, but to find one that looks like me would be great. I mean this world is a melting pot of lovely colors and there should be pin-ups who reflect that.

It got me thinking, maybe I should do something about it. Maybe I should snatch on to this untapped market. I came across tons of websites where people are asking the same question I had "Where are the Black Pin-up's at?" This leads me to believe there is a market for this type of art. I'm not talking about that ghetto, trashy Hustler, Video Girl pictures, I am taking about the images of Vargas, Gil, and Ballantyne (Google if you don't what I am talking about). This could be a fun project, that could take my mind off the drama off work, plus I can use all that college learning I am a million dollars in D-E-B-T for!!!

Oh ya, the pictures below are the best that I could find during my search. One looks like a terrible acctress from a 70's porn video and the other as lovely as she is, I swear I saw her in a 50 cent video. This is what I want to change!!!

Thoughts???
